In 2004 Jutta Ambrositsch decided to give up her position as an Art Director in a well-known advertising agency in exchange for time in the vineyard. Half an acre of Riesling vines was quickly leased. With positive results at the end of the year confirmed, she knew that she made the right decision.

Gradually the area grew to what is now a bit more than 10 acres (4 hectares).

In the vineyards (city areas: Sievering, Grinzing, Nussberg, Stammersdorf) situated on both sides of the river Danube Gruener Veltliner, Riesling, and Gemischter Satz are cultivated. On top of that Jutta has a tiny Blaufränkisch project in the southern part of Burgenland – the area she grew up.

Cultivation has been implemented according to the environmentally friendly Lutte Raisonnée-Principle - herbicides or weed killers, insecticides, and fungicides are not used; green manuring takes place in all the vineyards.

Harvesting is carried out 100% manually. Fermentation happens 100% spontaneously without using synthetic yeasts.

Ein Liter Wien

Field blend local grapes

Vinification method: Grapes are hand-picked, a combination of second press juice from all of the white wine holdings covering the entire four hectares. Because this includes everything from the five-year-old vines of Kosmopolit to the old-vine Gruner planted in 1960, it's considerably more serious than most wine bottled in the liter format. This is a field blend of local grapes planted in the area of the capital city of Vienna.

Bottled unfined, unfiltered with minimal SO2.

Tasting notes: This aromatic wine has some body on it with yellow plums, melon, and flowers on the palate. Its off-dry profile is balanced by vibrant acidity. It's more complex than most wines sold by the liter. Pair it with bold flavors.

Satellit

Vinification method: This traditional Viennese field blend (Gemischter Satz) is made from Riesling, Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay. The grapes come from Jutta’s first ‘satellite’ vineyard - a parcel
situated on the famous Bisamberg site just outside the 19th district of Vienna. The 30-year-old
vineyard sits on Loess soils just north of the Danube river in the village of Stammersdorfer. The grapes are hand-harvested in early September, 50% fermented on the skins for 5 days, then pressed; 50% whole bunch pressing – ambient ferment together in stainless steel. 4 months on lees, with no temperature control. Ambient yeast, bottled unfined, rough filtration, with minimal SO2.

Tasting notes: Saline, fruit cocktail, white flowers, honey, and herbs - in short - delicious.

The grapes are hand-harvested at the end of September, coferment, with spontaneous fermentation with ambient yeast taking place in stainless steel for a few weeks, on lees for ~4 months, with no temperature control. Bottled unfined, rough filtration, with minimal SO2.

Tasting notes: Fresh, juicy and a mineral lovers dream. Peach, pear, green tea, a citrus spritz, wildflowers and tall sweet grass in the sun. Just a whisper of an oaky, buttery presence.
