Delinquente is produced by winemaker/ owner Con-Greg Grigoriou who was born and raised on a vineyard in the Riverland, his father was the manager of the production at one of the local bulk wineries. Con-Greg's aim is to showcase just how amazing wines from the Riverland can be if you use grape varieties and clones that are suited to the climate and soil type and treat the vines, and the earth, with respect. The approach is to focus on sustainable grape varieties that need less water and thrive in the Riverland’s hot and dry climate. Organically grown single vineyard fruit, and sourced from a small family vineyard is complimented with a minimal intervention winemaking approach including natural, open ferments and no adds in the winery besides a touch of SO2. The result is wines that are easy drinking, smashable, silky, elegant and fruit-forward– but with a hidden, subtle complexity and structure.
As with all our producers, we will be donating part of the proceeds from sales to a non-profit close to our heart. For Delinquente wine co wines, we have chosen to donate to the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters. Please check them out.
Amaya
100% Negroamaro
11.5% ABV
Fermented in stainless steel with wild vineyard yeast, the wine was bottled under crown seal to finish ferment, resulting in the Petillant Naturel style. The Negroamaro for this wine was sourced from the Sherwood Estate in Loxton North, owned by the Proud family – third generation grape growers who have introduced Southern Italian varieties into their vineyards with great success.
Cherry cola! A wine that is equals parts intriguing and just juicy and delicious. Negroamaro brings that fennel, aniseed – liquorice allsorts feel – while the fruit profile is all black currants and boysenberry. A real gentle fizz this year – this is a Christmas morning special for the whole family.

Jaybird
50% Fiano, 30% Arinto, 20% Malvasia
11.5% ABV
The Bianco Macerato is an easy drinking, approachable skin contact white wine. Each parcel was fermented separately – the Fiano is pressed off skins straight away, while the other parcels were fermented on skins until sugar dry, up to 14 days. Each parcel was allowed to go through malolactic fermentation and settle out before being blended just prior to bottling.
The combination of fruit forward, acid driven and aromatic varieties, combined with extended skin contact, creates a wine that is at once thought provoking, interesting, but also refreshing and delicious. Pine/lime Splice on the nose, the Malvasia really pops through up front. Mango sorbet creaminess and tropical fruit open up the palate, while a gentle, round tannin, subtle bitterness and balanced acidity give great length to wine. Party at the front, business at the back, sort of deal.

SCREAMING BETTY VERMENTINO 2024
100% Vermentino
11.5% ABV
Wild fermented in stainless steel, the wine also spent 6 weeks on fine lees, stirred twice weekly, giving it a beautiful, textural edge not often found in Australian Vermentino’s – our reference point is Sardinia and Liguria.
Ripe green apple and that classic sort of walnut savouriness up front, this years interpretation has that fuzzy, acid driven, salty mouth feel amped right up. Bags of flavour - preserved lemon, briney and savoury, with a tropical, pineapple syrup background. Made for summer BBQ – grilled fish and oregano bread please.

ROKO IL VAGABONDO MONTEPULCIANO 2024
100% Montepulciano
13% ABV
The Montepulciano was harvested from two different patches on the Bassham Family Organic vineyard, on separate days about a week apart. Each pick was fermented separately and blended together just prior to bottling. The earlier pick carried a lovely tart acidity and green energy, usually associated with whole bunch fermented wines, while the later pick gives palate weight and the deeper fruit character for drinkability – the final blend bringing both parcels together in a really awesome way.
The idea with this wine is to make an uncomplicated red wine that provides flavour and energy. The thick skins provides a lovely, dark purple colour, and while the nose gives a feeling of power and intensity, the palate opens with a lovely, puckering fruit character, like a basket of freshly picked, mixed berries. The finish brings that tannin and those grippy, savoury elements back into play, while the acid keeps the freshness and length going. Pasta, pizza, BBQ, Salt and Vinegar Pringles – whatever, it’s a wine for all seasons.

WEEPING JUAN PINK PET NAT 2024
75% Vermentino, 25% Nero d’Avola
9.5% ABV
Each variety was picked, pressed off straight away and fermented separately. Blended and bottled,
the last bit of primary fermentation was finished in the bottle to create the “petillant naturel” style.
The party is back! Cracking fairy floss pink in the glass, pomegranate molasses on the nose, and a soft, creamy fizz plants this firmly in “chuggable” territory. Bright and clean, red fruit dominates – sort of link pink lemonade – but with a bitter citrus undertone that ramps up the moreish appeal.

TUFF NUTT BIANCo D’ALESSANO PET NAt 2024
100% Bianco d’Alessano
9.5 % ABV
Bianco d’Alessano is an uncommon variety from Puglia in Southern Italy, with the Loxton vineyard the only planting in Australia.
Fermented in stainless steel with wild vineyard yeast, the wine was bottled under crown seal to finish ferment, resulting in the Petillant Naturel, lightly sparkling style.
This year is truly a classic interpretation of likely our flagship wine. Vibrant yellow in the glass and Meyer lemon curd and green apple on the nose, there is this beautiful, pithy bubbly tingle which is so fun to drink. Boozy Schweppes bitter lemon, with length and utter drinkability, this is Tuff Nutt at their best.

PRETTY BOY 2024
100% Nero d’Avola
11% ABV
Wild fermented in stainless steel, Nero d’Avola is a native Sicilian variety that is perfect suited to the hot, dry climate of the Riverland. An incredibly versatile variety, while many know Nero d’Avola for the big bold reds of Sicily, with its sour cherry and naturally high acidity, we feel it is the perfect variety for rosé.
After crushing, the fruit was left to soak on skins for 6 hours, giving the wine it’s the lovely blush pink colour. The nose charges at you with candied strawberry, rose petal, and that ubiquitous but undeniable strawberries and cream aroma that just keeps going and going – Campino lolly anyone?
On the palate, a certain elegance – these fruit forward flavours persist, while the classic Nero d’Avola acidity comes in to keep things fresh and crunchy; evolving the flavours into a slightly underripe stonefruit spectrum – white peach or nectarine.

ROXANNE THE RAZOr 2024
70% Negroamaro, 30% Nero d'Avola
11.5% ABV
Wild fermented in stainless steel, each variety is were picked and fermented separately –6 or 7 days before being pressed off, with blending just prior to bottling.
A return to the light but brooding Roxanne of old, the nose opens savoury earthiness – truffled mushroom powder and coffee. Sour cherry pops on the palate alongside a darker berry feel. There is tannin and structure – a meaty savouriness – but it is still effortlessly light and refreshing, and takes a chill like a pro.

HELL WINES
Vintage 2022 was another cooler year in the Riverland - after a bumper crop in 2021, hail in late spring, and issues with bunch set on some patches, yields for the year are slightly below average. But what the year lacks in quantity, it makes up for in quality – ripping acidity, plush fruits, and flavour for days characterize a vintage that, while not without its challenges, has offered up some very yummy wines. The Hell Series wines represent our experimentation with winemaking techniques and allow the fruit to express different, unique and compelling characteristics.
Hell Light Red
Aglianico 52%, Montepulciano 35%, Arinto 13%
13% ABV
Carbonic maceration is used in this wine to create a drink that is light and fruit-forward, with a
brightness and acid profile that is all about drinkability. The Aglianco and Montepulciano are hand-harvested separately, whole bunches dumped straight into one-tonne fermenters, sealed up, pumped full of CO2 and left alone for 2 weeks. After this time, the musts are pressed off skins to finish fermenting, the wine then left to go through malo and elevage in neutral French hogsheads. Bright and packed full of juicy berry flavours, this wine is almost too easy to drink. Crunchy acidity and the addition of a little skin contact Arinto for depth and mouthfeel, our Light Red is a joyous, fun drink. Throw it in the fridge on a hot day and watch the bottle disappear'

Hell Negroamaro Rose
Negroamaro 85%, Malvasia 8%, Arinto 5%, Nero d’Avola 2%
11% ABV
The idea with this wine is to use Negroamaro as the backbone of the rose, and flesh that out with aromatic varieties to provide depth and fruit approachability. The Negroamaro was destemmed and pressed straight off for fermentation, while the white parcels were full skin ferments. Once sugar dry, the wine is sent to old French barriques for malo and maturation for about 8 months, before racking, a touch of SO2, and bottling.
Negroamaro has a lovely earthy acidity, tinglingly dry and moreish – similar to Grenache but with a husky, gravelly feel. The Malvasia brings the stone fruit sweetness and fruity aromatics, and depth and intrigue from the Arinto. Together we’re left with a tart, dry rose that still has a hint of lushness and mouthfeel, serious but gluggable at the same time. To our mind, a perfect treatment of Negroamaro from the Riverland.

Hell Macerato
50% Arinto, 50% Malvasia
11% ABV
Native to Portugal, the small berries of Arinto contain a delicious mix of fruit flavours, and most
importantly, a piercing acidity that stands up to the hot climate of the Riverland. Malvasia, on the
other hand, produces larger berries with that classic aromatic, sweet-fruited feel. When blended,
these two varieties work so well together, each individual characteristic playing off and balancing with the other variety to produce wines of texture and intrigue.
The fruit for this wine was hand-picked and immediately destemmed into one tonne open
fermenters, where each variety was fermented separately on skins until sugar dry – about 14 days. Ferments were hand plunged twice daily, and pumped over twice during fermentation, to gently extract all that lovely tannin and savoury characteristics. Post ferment, the must of both varieties was combined in stainless steel and sealed up for another 3 weeks to continue to extract depth of flavour. The wine was then pressed into neutral French barriques where it rested on full solids for 8 months, before being racked once prior to bottling. This wine sees no additions of any kind save for a small amount of SO2 at bottling.

Hell Pet Nat
60% Fiano, 20% Malvasia, 20% Arinto
All parcels were handpicked, destemmed and fermented separately – the Fiano in stainless steel while the Arinto and Malvasia was fermented in neutral French barriques. The wine was blended and bottled during vintage to capture the last bit of fermentation, producing the sparkling pet nat style. To differentiate from our DLQ Pet Nats (and accommodate a bit of overcabonation) the wine was disgorged prior to release.
Dry and crunchy, this is a very clean and pretty serious pet nat. Fiano is the acid driven backbone of the wine but fairly neutral – the Malvasia and Arinto, fermented in oak, bring the real interest, creamy mouthfeel and roundness that fleshes out the wine. A lovely lighter carbonation post disgorging is pleasant and inviting, adding to that creamy easiness. Yum, fun, but deadly serious – a new way for pet nat!

Hell Series Nero d’Avola
100% Nero d’Avola
13% ABV
Nero d’Avola is, in our minds, the ultimate Australian grape variety. Hardy and drought resistant, it produces good size crops that are absolutely packed with flavour and natural acidity. It thrives in the hot, dry climate of the Riverland, and when farmed organically and biodynamically, it produces the best fruit in the region by far. This is our very serious, but still verty drinkable, flagship red wine. Fermented on skins for 14 days, hand plunged twice daily and pumped over twice during fermentation, the wine is pressed off to old French hogsheads for elevage for 8 months. This wine represents everything we love about Nero d’Avola, and the perfect balance the variety seems to create in the wines it makes. Its got dense red fruit but its light on its feet. It is smooth and lush but with a razor sharp acidity that make it moreish and drinkable. There is earthiness and tannin but not in an overpowering way, the gentle oak aging allowing all these elements to come together in harmony. We love this wine and hope you do too.
